Everything you need to know about using ManiPad: instant note URLs, real-time collaboration, automatic language detection, synchronized line numbering, markdown formatting, and privacy locks.
1. URL Navigation & Sharing
Access your notes directly through the browser address bar with standard paths:
Type any custom slug to open or create an instant persistent note.
Open the same URL on another phone, tablet, or PC to sync keystrokes live.
Share read-only notes where visitors can view but cannot modify content.
Click the download icon in the header toolbar to save your note as a local text file.
2. Automatic Code Detection & Line Numbers
When programming code is typed or pasted, ManiPad automatically activates developer mode:
Accurately identifies C, C++, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, Go, Java, HTML, CSS, SQL, JSON, YAML, and Bash based on syntax heuristics.
A synchronized line gutter appears automatically in the editor whenever code is detected, perfectly matched with your cursor and scroll position. (Regular prose and notes remain line-number-free).
Code displays with clean window titlebar styling, line counts, language badges, and a 1-click clipboard copy button.
3. View Modes (Header Controls)
Switch layouts in the top navigation bar according to your workflow:
Clean, distraction-free full-width editor for high-speed typing.
Side-by-side editing pane on the left with live synchronized preview on the right.
Clean reading view rendering formatted Markdown, tables, and highlighted code.
4. Markdown Syntax Reference
Standard GitHub-flavored markdown formatting supported in ManiPad:

5. Security & Protection Controls
Configure privacy and access controls by clicking the Settings gear in the header toolbar:
Set a password on your note to prevent unauthorized visitors from viewing or editing your text.
Set expiration times of 1 Hour, 24 Hours, 7 Days, or 30 Days. Notes are permanently erased upon expiry.
Generate immutable view-only links to safely share documents without risking unwanted edits.
